Description of Ponte Roma Fabric

Ponte Roma is also known as Ponte-Di-Roma or Punto-Di-Roma. It is a double knit meaning that it has a double layer of fabric knitted with 2 sets of needles on 2 needle beds of a circular knit machine. Ponte Roma is a firm and stable knit that holds its shape well in a garment. It wears like t-shirt fabric and feels secure like an outer garment. Ponte Roma fabric can be knitted from any combination of yarns in a variety of weights. Spandex is often included to increase the stretch. Being a double knit means that it’s a two faced fabric so it can be used for unlined or reversible styles. It has a very elegant and confident look when used to make pencil dresses like shown in the photo.

Great for many different types of seasonless applications including jackets, tops, bottoms, dresses, skirts and more! With these types of specialty knits we recommend washing in a wash bag, inside out, on its own, and hanging to dry, or dry clean finished garments to preserve the life of the fabric.
